About HydroForce

A specialist waterproofing contractor built for South East Queensland conditions — humid summers, reactive soils, timber-framed second storeys and building programmes that never have spare days in them.

Our story

Started because too many bathrooms were being rebuilt twice

HydroForce began in 2013 in a shed at Rocklea with one ute and a founder who had spent a decade tiling over other people's membranes. Dean Whitmore kept being asked to strip out bathrooms that were barely five years old — not because of design faults or bad tiling, but because someone had rolled a thin single coat over dusty sheeting and called it waterproofed.

The business grew on referral from tilers first, then builders, then the homeowners those builders worked for. Today four crews run daily out of depots in Brisbane's south and on the northern Gold Coast, sealing everything from a single ensuite in Ashgrove to forty-unit townhouse developments in Springfield and amenities blocks on the Sunshine Coast.

What has not changed is the standard. Every wet area is treated as though we will be the ones ripping it out if it fails — because in a practical sense, under a seven year warranty, we are.

How we work

Four things we will not compromise on

Do the preparation

Ninety percent of membrane failures start with a substrate that was never ready. We prep properly even when nobody would ever see the difference.

Document everything

Photos of each coat, wet film readings, flood test results. If a question comes up in five years, the evidence exists.

Own the outcome

We do not subcontract membrane application. The person who quoted your job is accountable for the person who applied it.

Tell the truth about scope

If your falls are wrong or your sheeting is moving, we will say so before we quote — not after the tiles crack.
